You don’t get to bomb tens of thousands of innocent people for the lives of 200 hostages. that’s not how civilized societies work.

If someone breaks into your house and murders your family, no one could blame you for killing the killer, but you don’t get to bomb the killer’s entire neighborhood, even if you know the killer is hiding in one of the neighbors’ houses. not sure why this is difficult
